COCHISE STRONGHOLD — Cochise County residents west of Cochise Stronghold and south of Ironwood Road in Sunsites have been placed in “GO” status, meaning evacuation has been ordered, due to the Stronghold fire.
Residents of Cochise Stronghold, and those living on Ironwood Road in Sunsites and Pearce, have been placed on “SET” status, meaning the order to evacuate could be given at any time.
The Stronghold fire was discovered just before noon Monday, and is currently at 750 acres and moving in all directions. Two Arizona Forestry hand crews have been dispatched to the fire, to assist local fire crews already on scene. Air attack and water tenders have been requested.
