PIMA — The Town of Pima has a new Public Works director.

During Tuesday’s meeting, the Town Council was informed that Evan Stringfellow was promoted from within as the new director of Public Works, following the resignation of Jimmie Lofgreen.

Lofgreen had been with the town for about five years, with more than three of those years in charge of the Public Works Department.

Town Manager Vernon Batty praised the work Lofgreen has done for the town.

“The reason why this room and this building turned out so well, after we took it over from the courthouse, was Jimmie and his crew,” Batty said.

Batty added that there were a number of applicants for the position, and a hiring panel unanimously recommended Stringfellow for the position.

Stringfellow said one of his first projects will be preparing for an update of the town’s general plan, which must be updated every 10 years under state law.
