State Forestry Department helping rural fire districts obtain wildland firefighting vehicles

PHOENIX — Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management announced it is making $5 million available to rural fire districts to purchase new vehicles.

Rural fire districts can apply for up to $400,000 to purchase a Type 3 or Type 6 engine or a water tender.

A second grant is also available for rural fire districts to obtain smaller items, such as personal protection equipment, hand tools, communications equipment and fire shelters.
