St. Vincent, Safford Library, First Things First offering help to new and expectant parents

SAFFORD — New and expectant parents have two chances to get help and information when it comes to their new baby.

Graham County WIC — Women, Infants and Children — will have a booth inside St. Vincent DePaul Society on Tuesday, Feb. 10, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

WIC provides “nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and nutritious foods. WIC serves pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women, infants, and children under the age of 5.”

Visitors will have the opportunity to see if they qualify for WIC services, and St. Vincent clothing at buy one, get half off a second piece.

On Friday, March 6, from 9 a.m. to noon, the Safford City-Graham County Library and First Things First will host the annual Community Baby Shower.

The Community Baby Shower is for expectant parents and families with children age 0-1.

“We are going to have community resources there available, free resources where you can learn all about pregnancy and infant care,” said Elizabeth Henley, Early Literacy coordinator for the Library. “You can walk away with some giveaways and feel a little bit more prepared as you embark upon that adventure.”

The Community Baby Shower is supported by the Library, City of Safford and First Things First.
