THATCHER — A co-ed five-on-five soccer tournament will help with college tuition for students who make a difference in the lives of others.

The tournament will take place Friday, April 21, starting at 6 p.m., at John Mickelson Field at Eastern Arizona College. Cost is $50 per team, free for EAC students.

There will also be mixed green chili and bean burros for sale for $5 each.

Funds raised will benefit the #SaveASkyler scholarship program, helping students who are making a difference in their community attend EAC.

The #SaveASkyler program started in 2015 by Mark Wren and his mother, Patti, to reduce bullying in Gila Valley schools. It’s named for Patti’s son, Skyler, who took his own life at 12 after being repeatedly bullied.
