SAFFORD — Seven local businesses are coming together for a new initiative to the Gila Valley — Pink Friday.
“Pink Friday is the Friday before Black Friday, and it’s small business focused,” said Desiree Schnell, owner of Josie James Co. “That’s the marketing tactic behind it — you get help these small businesses, you keep your money in your community. Even if you’re online, you’re still supporting a small business and a family.”
Schnell explained that, while Shop Small Saturday is a great effort, because it occurs the day after the busiest shopping day of the year, there’s often less money available to spend at locally-owned stores. By having a day dedicated to shopping at locally-owned businesses before Black Friday, there’s a better chance more money will remain in the community.
Participating in Pink Friday are seven Safford businesses, five Thatcher businesses and one from Central, each with different specials and offers:

Mann Mortgage in Safford is sponsoring the scavenger hunt. Pick up a punch card at any participating business and visit as many businesses as possible on Friday, getting the card punched with each purchase. Drop off the card at Mann Mortgage to be entered into the Pink Friday raffle.
