Graham County Sheriff’s Office Handles 26 Incidents, Including DUI and School Bus Complaint
The Graham County Sheriff’s Office recorded 26 incidents between September 17 and the morning of September 18, including a DUI investigation, a report of drivers failing to stop for a school bus, a prowler complaint and several civil and welfare-related calls.
One of the more notable incidents occurred Thursday afternoon when deputies investigated a suspected DUI near Jobis Market on U.S. Highway 191. The call initially began as a traffic stop before being changed to a DUI investigation. Game and Fish personnel were also contacted during the incident, and a vehicle was requested.
At approximately 3:31 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office received a traffic complaint involving two vehicles that reportedly failed to stop for a school bus near Discovery Park Boulevard and South First Avenue. According to the report, the school bus was stopped with its stop sign extended and warning lights activated. The reporting party told deputies that photographs of the vehicles were available.
Deputies also responded Thursday evening to a prowler report on Larson Lane in San Jose. The reporting party said an unknown person had opened the door of his trailer and was standing outside. The resident remained inside with the door locked and told dispatchers he could hear someone walking outside. Officers later reported that the situation had cleared.
A fraud complaint was reported on Cottonwood Wash Road after a woman said her elderly mother had discovered fraudulent charges on her bank account in what appeared to be an online incident.
Earlier in the day, deputies handled several calls involving civil matters and serving legal papers. One citizen requested assistance retrieving farm equipment from a family member’s property after the two had a falling out. Another caller sought assistance concerning personal property belonging to a family member who had been flown to Tucson.
The report also includes an animal complaint involving dogs that had reportedly been attacked by other dogs, a welfare check triggered by an automated iPhone accident notification, several traffic stops and a juvenile-problem call.
The report covers incidents beginning after midnight on September 17 and lists 26 total incidents for the reporting period.
