Graham County Sheriff’s Office Handles 17 Incidents, Including Drug and Injury Calls

The Graham County Sheriff’s Office handled 17 reported incidents during the reporting period beginning Oct. 6, according to the department’s Oct. 7 incident report.

Among the more notable calls was a drug investigation on U.S. Highway 191. Deputies reportedly located ammunition, a possible weapon and drug paraphernalia inside a vehicle.

Deputies also responded to an animal problem on U.S. Highway 70 after a report that goats had been attacked by dogs.

A motor vehicle accident involving an injury was reported in the area of West 40th Street and South 12th Avenue. The report states that a person had fallen from the back of a truck around 3 a.m. Oct. 6 and had already left the hospital when the call was made.

The Sheriff’s Office also investigated a civil complaint involving property damage on West Barteau Lane. A resident reported that, following rain, an internet company vehicle had driven through the property, damaging a wash and collapsing a bridge.

Another drug-related call occurred at the Graham County Courthouse, where security personnel reported finding drug paraphernalia in a trash can.

Several wanted-person calls were also recorded, including a request to book an individual for sentencing and another involving a person with a local warrant who was located in the adult side of probation.

The report also included a welfare check late Tuesday night in San Jose involving a person on hospice who reportedly said he was confused and lost in his yard and had no electricity. The report noted a history of heart attack and strokes and stated that no weapons or alcohol were reported.

Other calls included traffic stops, a suspicious-activity report, citizen assistance and an information complaint. The report covers incidents beginning after midnight Oct. 6 and lists 17 total incidents for the Sheriff’s Office.
