Graham County Sheriff’s Office Reports 21 Incidents
The Graham County Sheriff’s Office responded to 21 reported incidents between September 30 and the morning of October 1, according to the latest incident report. Calls included traffic hazards caused by flooding, welfare checks, a DUI investigation, a runaway juvenile, an agency assist and other routine law-enforcement activity.
Several calls Wednesday involved flooding and hazardous road conditions following recent rain. Deputies received a report of water approximately one foot deep flowing over the south side of Solomon Bridge. The Arizona Department of Transportation was notified.
A second flooding complaint involved Eden Bridge, where water was reportedly overflowing onto the east side of the bridge and appeared to make the road impassable. The highway department advised that warning signs had been placed in the area, although the reporting party said the signs were not visible.
A welfare check involving a toddler was reported early Wednesday morning after the child called 911, spoke briefly and then disconnected. Dispatchers contacted an adult at the residence and determined that units could be cleared from the call.
Another welfare check Wednesday afternoon involved a woman whose family had reportedly not heard from her for approximately two weeks. The caller requested that deputies check on her because of an existing medical condition.
Deputies also responded to an animal complaint involving a large swarm of aggressive bees. The bees were reportedly located in a tree and around a wellhead approximately 150 yards from a residence. Omni and a page were sent in response.
An abandoned vehicle was reported in the Clay Knolls area. The vehicle, described as a white Ford, appeared to be stuck in mud and had reportedly been there since the previous day. The front passenger window appeared to be damaged.
Wednesday evening, deputies investigated a DUI-related incident after an SUV reportedly drove into a residential yard and damaged fencing before leaving the area. The vehicle was later reported traveling toward the western end of the road.
A juvenile runaway report was filed shortly before midnight. A 14-year-old was reported to have left a residence, and her whereabouts were unknown at the time of the report.
The Sheriff’s Office also assisted another law-enforcement agency early Thursday morning with a vehicle-related investigation involving an older Ford pickup. Officers were attempting to establish ownership of the vehicle after the driver reportedly said he had purchased it from another person but did not know the registered owner.
Later Thursday morning, deputies assisted with a missing-person alert involving a white Ford Mustang. The person was described as being at risk and in need of a mental-health evaluation. The vehicle was located traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 70, and the alert was subsequently changed to a traffic stop.
Other calls during the reporting period included a parking complaint involving a vehicle that had been parked along a roadway for approximately 10 days, VIN inspections, service of court papers, a civil dispute, a motorist locked out of a vehicle and a traffic complaint.
