GRAHAM COUNTY — A man who claimed he was searching for his lost dogs is facing citations for a single vehicle accident.
The incident occurred Tuesday, on south 1st Avenue, when witnesses reported a car hit the guide wires of a Graham County Co-op utility pole, and the driver walk away.
Co-op officials said the pole was not significantly damaged and would not press criminal charges.
Graham County Sheriff’s deputies tracked down the owner of the vehicle and, when traveling to the owner’s home, found the driver walking along the roadway.
The driver claimed three of the family’s pets had escaped the yard and he took his father’s vehicle in an effort to find the animals. The driver did not have a valid driver’s license, and the owner said he did not give his son permission to take the vehicle.
The driver was cited for driving without a license and failure to control a vehicle to avoid an accident.
