SAFFORD — The organization that serves the seniors of Graham and Greenlee counties is seeking the public’s help with some much-needed items.
SEACUS — Southeastern Arizona Community Unique Services — is seeking donations of food items that can be given to seniors for periods they are unable to leave the home, and household supplies.
Household items needed include:
- Shampoo
- Conditioner
- Body wash
- Dish soap, Laundry detergent
- Lysol sprays
- Other cleaning items
Food items needed include:
- Canned soups
- Crackers
- Tuna and/or chicken packets
- Fruit cups
- Breakfast bars
- Protein shakes
- Instant oatmeal
- Shelf-stable milk
Items can be delivered to the Graham County Senior Center, at 822 W. Main St. in Safford, Mondays through Fridays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Senior Center will also host a hot dog fund-raiser Saturday, April 26, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Available for purchase will be hot dogs, nachos, pastries, cookies, popcorn and cold drinks.
Last year, SEACUS provided 106,000 pounds of food, and 34,619 meals to seniors through congregate meals at its three senior centers in Graham and Greenlee counties, and the Meals on Wheels program.
SEACUS also provided 1,098 hours of respite to family care-givers, 168 hours of housekeeping and 33,713 unites of attendant care in 2023.
