Sandra Kaye Leavitt

Born Sandra Kaye Nebeker, at Hood River Memorial Hospital in Hood River, Oregon, on 17 February, 1958. Second child and youngest daughter amongst four siblings Born to Clara Gean and Bryce Nebeker Started School at Frankton Primary, Oak Grove Elementary, Barrett School, Hood River Junior High School and graduated in 1976 from Hood River Valley High School. While at HRVS she was very active in the Speech team coached by Mrs. Chandler and every year qualified for the state tournament, normally in humorous interpretation.  While in High School, she participated in several school plays. She was very active as a young woman as a youth leader in the Hood River Ward of the LDS church.  Upon graduation she attended Ricks college (now BYU-Idaho).

She married Ronald Leavitt in the Manti Utah temple on November 17, 1978.  She and Ron moved many times throughout their marriage.  During their marriage, they lived in Oregon, Alaska, Idaho and Arizona.  Ron finally convinced Sandi to move to Hyder, Arizona where they lived for about 13 years. They ultimately settled in Pima in the Gila Valley and have been here for about 10 years.  Throughout that time, she and Ron raised six kids.  Sandi enjoyed working with the youth and spent many years teaching as a seminary teacher and a substitute teacher.  She also had a love of gardening and shared that love with anyone that she could. Along with working as a substitute teacher Sandi was also an audio book narrator and was a voice on a local radio station.  Her hobbies included crocheting, hiking with a local community club, and hands-on projects such as renovating her home. Sandi was well loved by the community and her family and will be missed by many.

Sandi is survived by: her father, Bryson Nebeker; her husband, Ron Leavitt; two brothers, Steve and Ed Nebeker; her sister, Terri Tyler; and her kids, Josh and Amanda Leavitt and their 6 children, Matt and Pam Leavitt and their 3 children, Jennie and Parker Merrill and their 6 children, Katie and Zach Maughan and their 3 children, and Jordan Leavitt and Tyson Leavitt.
