Safford’s Intermountain Centers getting a T-Mobile Hometown Grant

SAFFORD — For the second time in two years, Safford will be the recipient of a T-Mobile Hometown Grant.

On Thursday, T-Mobile announced 25 recipients across the nation will receive grants of up to $50,000 each, and Safford was the first one on the list. The grant is for renovation of Intermountain Centers for Human Development, to ensure mental health services are available to anyone who needs it, regardless of ability to pay.

Intermountain Centers is the parent organization for Community Partners, which offers outpatient mental health services in the Gila Valley.

To celebrate the grant, Intermountain Centers will host a public open house Friday, Sept. 13, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, at its facility at 301 E. 4th St., suites A-B.

In 2022, T-Mobile granted the Safford Downtown Association $50,000 for its effort to reconstruct and renovate the historic Safford Theatre.

According to its website, T‑Mobile has provided more than $14 million in Hometown Grants since it kicked off its five-year commitment to small towns and rural communities in April 2021.
