Safford to celebrate Earth Day with groundbreaking

SAFFORD — The City of Safford and Southeastern Arizona Clean and Beautiful are inviting the public to take part in special celebration.

The city’s first Earth Day event will take place Saturday, April 22, at 9 a.m., at Fireman’s Park in front of City Hall.

The event will feature a groundbreaking and tree planting.

Earth Day started in 1970, with a focus on cleaning trash and ensuring the planet remains hospitable for living creatures.

The theme for this year’s Earth Day is Invest In Our Planet.
