Safford Police report includes 113 incidents over three-day period
The Safford Police Department recorded 113 incidents between 6 a.m. Aug. 24 and 6 a.m. Aug. 27, according to the department’s Law Incident Media Summary Report.
Among the more significant calls during the reporting period were reports involving a suspected sexual assault, a DUI, burglary, theft, threats and several welfare checks.
Late Monday night, police received a report from a person who believed they had been sexually assaulted by an unknown man while they were asleep in a room. The incident was reported at approximately 11:42 p.m. Aug. 25. The report provides no additional information about the circumstances or whether an arrest was made.
A DUI investigation was initiated shortly after 2:14 a.m. Aug. 26. The incident was initially recorded as a traffic stop before being changed to a DUI call.
Police also investigated a reported burglary Monday night after a caller said a former partner had been seen breaking into a vehicle. The caller reported that items had been removed from the vehicle, although the report did not specify what was taken.
A firearm was reported missing Monday morning after a resident told police she had placed a shotgun in storage and later discovered it was missing.
Several welfare-related calls were also handled. In one case, officers were asked to check on a person who had reportedly suffered a medical problem and was no longer answering the door. In another, officers responded to a report of a person lying in a yard and making unusual noises.
Police responded Tuesday evening to a report of juveniles throwing rocks at an adult male. Two separate callers reported the incident, with the juveniles reportedly leaving the area on an electric bicycle.
Other calls included reports of fraud, threats or intimidation, unwanted subjects, juvenile problems, traffic violations, orders of protection, civil standbys, medical emergencies, suspicious circumstances and numerous school patrols.
The report covers incidents handled by Safford police from Aug. 24 through the morning of Aug. 27.
