Safford Library to host U of A Diabetes Prevention Program

The Safford City Library has announced a new addition to its Adult program offerings. The University of Arizona will present a free, 12-month program aimed to helping improve the health for those with prediabetes or who meet risk factors for developing type 2 diabetes. Class participants will learn how to develop healthy behaviors to prevent diabetes.

Ada-Mae Nandino, of the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension, refers to this program as a proven lifestyle change program that can help cut the risk of diabetes in half.

Participants must be over age 18 and have a diagnosis of pre-diabetes or meet the risk factors listed on a simple questionnaire

The Diabetes Prevention Program will be held in the library program room select Tuesdays for the next 12 months. This program will be held free of charge. Please contact Ada-Mae Nandino of The University of Arizona Cooperative Extension at (928) 428-2611 or adamaefrench@email.arizona.edu with questions.
