SAFFORD — The City of Safford is taking a page out of the Pima playbook when it comes to helping young residents in need.

Safford officials announced it will host the city’s first Angel Wish Tree this holiday season and is now taking nominations of children who would benefit from having their Christmas wishes met.

Forms to nominate are available at the Safford City Annex. All information provided will remain confidential.

The city hopes to have the full list of Angels by Nov. 16.

The Town of Pima announced it is continuing the tradition of an annual Giving Tree.

The program is under the direction of Vice Mayor Sherrill Teeter, who also started accepting names for participation.

Once the trees are in place at city and town offices, residents of both communities will be able to select names from the trees and purchase the age-appropriate gifts listed for the child. Purchase of other needed items, such as clothing and shoes, are also encouraged.
