SAFFORD — On his social media Tuesday, Safford City Councilman Michael Andazola reminded residents that the city is under State 1 water restrictions.

The council was reminded of the restrictions during a staff update at Monday’s meeting.

Stage 1 restriction prohibits the watering of paved areas, and limits watering of landscaping to before 10 a.m. and after 6 p.m.

In addition, outside watering is limited to two hours on specified days, depending on the last digit of the property’s address.

Homes with an odd digit may water on the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 11th, 13th, 15th, 17th, 19th, 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, 29th and 31st of each month.

Homes with an even digit will be allowed to water on the 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th, 12th, 14th, 16th, 18th, 20th, 22nd, 24th, 26th, 28th and 30th of the month.

Stage 2 water restrictions were enacted by the City Council in 2013, and reduced down to Stage 1 in 2015. The Stage 1 restrictions were never rescinded.
