THATCHER — Get ready for another busy weekend in the Gila Valley.

Running now through Saturday, the San Carlos Apache Tribe is hosting its annual Veterans Rodeo at the Apache Gold Casino and Resort.

The event features all the traditional rodeo events, including bull and steer riding. There will also be plenty of indigenous food and live music headlined by recording stars Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Warren G and Xzibit on Saturday.

Families Fighting Cancer Together is hosting its third annual Pickleball Tournament fund-raiser Nov. 10-11 at the tennis courts outside of Thatcher High School.

“It’s not rated — the players aren’t rated — it’s come and have fun,” said Luke Hatch with Families Fighting Cancer Together.

Cost is $55 for one day of play or $70 for both days. Full-time EAC students can play free one day, or pay $15 to play both days. To register, go to Order page (ffct.us).

Also on Friday, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., the GFWC Woman’s Club of Safford will conduct its annual auction. Graham County Supervisor Paul David will serve as auctioneer.

Then on Saturday, the Gila Valley Adventure Club is heading to the Klondyke Store for Karaoke in Klondyke.

“We made the hours 3-10 p.m. I know seven hours of karaoke seems crazy for some people, but for some people it’s like you died and went to heaven,” said Kristine Ekval with the Graham County Chamber of Commerce. “While you’re out there, you can definitely spend the night — they have RV (and) camping available. Get up early, go for a hike, go for a drive out to Turkey Creek, it’s going to be absolutely beautiful.”

Every singer will receive a Klondike ice cream bar and there is no cost to participate.
