River cleanup in Clifton, Community Pride Days in Graham County

CLIFTON — Graham and Greenlee counties will have a few more chances at spring cleaning.

Gila Watershed Partnership announced a cleanup of the San Francisco Riverbanks will take place Saturday, June 4.

Volunteers are asked to meet at Clifton’s Riverside Park starting at 8 a.m. for a safety briefing and area assignments. Volunteers should bring hats, sunscreen and water, plus wear closed-toe shoes. A sack lunch from the Clifton Hotel will be provided at noon, following the cleanup.

Less than a week later, Graham County will celebrate Community Pride Days, June 9-11.

During Community Pride Days, Pima, Safford, Thatcher and Graham County residents are entitled to one free load of residential trash at the landfill. No hazardous materials will be accepted.

Proof of residency is required and loads that are not covered and secured are subject to a $10 charge.

In addition to the free load as part of Community Pride Days, Safford residents are entitled to one free load of residential trash at the landfill each month. Proof of Safford utility service is required.
