PIMA — The Pima Community Kindness Project wants to make May Kindness Month in the Gila Valley.

The organizers behind the project held their first public event Saturday — a community yard sale on the high school football field — and they debuted their kindness calendar.

“It’s suggestions for things that (everyone) can do for the month of May to be kind,” said project chairperson JoAnn Draper.

The calendar’s suggestions run from giving a positive review on a social media page for a local business for Monday, May 3, to introduce oneself to a neighbor May 19 and say, “Hello,” to everyone during a walk on May 26.

The calendar is available for view and download on the project’s Facebook page, Facebook.com/PimaCommunityKindnessProject.

The yard sale had nearly a dozen vendors and coincided with a Graham County Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting and tours of the new elementary school building.
