SAN CARLOS — The San Carlos Apache Forest Resources Program announced there will be a prescribed burn in the Hilltop Forest Management Unit starting next week.
The burn will Nov. 12 through Nov. 27, from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. daily, weather permitting, and will involve almost 4,000 acres.
The first area will be near Carol Springs Mountain, Nov. 12-15, before moving to the Tanks and Cienega projects Nov. 16-27.
There are no road closures planned during the burn.
During the summer wildfire season, the San Carlos Apache Reservation suffered multiple blazes, including the Watch fire that peaked at nearly 2,200 acres and destroyed 21 homes, leaving 73 people homeless.
