Police say weapon fired by homeless man

SAFFORD — A homeless man who reportedly fired a gun in the parking lot of a local business found himself in jail.

Safford Police reported that on Tuesday, Feb. 22, at 8:45 p.m., the suspect, identified as Michael Pena, of Safford, reportedly opened a door to a victim’s vehicle in the AutoZone parking lot, and took out a firearm. Pena then allegedly fired the weapon.

Police report no injuries in the incident, but there was no report of damage related to the shooting.

Pena was taken into custody without incident and was booked into Graham County jail on charges of aggravated assault, burglary, disorderly conduct with a weapon, theft and endangerment.
