THATCHER — Halloween may be Tuesday, but the haunted hijinks start this week.

The Safford Library’s annual Halloween Carnival for children 2-5 years old is Thursday, Oct. 26, starting at 10 a.m., with the costume parade through the library at 11:15 a.m.

Thursday is also the first of three nights of the area’s biggest haunted house, the fifth annual Fright at the Museum, at Eastern Arizona Museum and Historical Society in Pima. The haunted house runs from 7-9 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and admission is $5, with all proceeds to benefit the museum.

“We realized as a fund-raiser, we’re missing out on half of our opportunity to raise money, because (some) people are not haunted house fans, it’s a selective group,” said Clint Woods with the Museum board. “So starting at 10 a.m. Friday, from 10 a.m. to noon Friday and Saturday, we’re going to do what we call our no-scare tour. So this will be all the lights on (and) no live actors. We’ll . . . have everything set up like it would for the night haunt. And it’s still a $5 donation to come through.”

Friday and Saturday are also the final two days of the Lamb & Vine Pumpkin Patch and Maze in Pima.

The Boys and Girls Club of the Gila Valley is hosting two events this week. First is a date night for parents Friday, Oct. 27. The club will care for the kids from 6-10:30 p.m., offering a costume contest, s’mores and more. Cost is $5 for club members, $10 for non-members.

The second event is a Haunted House Saturday, Oct. 28, from 6-11 p.m.

A Vendor Halloween is Saturday, from 5-9 p.m., in the Tractor Supply parking lot.

Nathaniel’s Childhood Cancer Foundation will host a Halloween Spooktacular Monday, Oct. 30, starting at 6 p.m., at John Mickelson Field at Eastern Arizona College. The event will feature games and trick or treating, plus cornhole and silent auction fund-raisers.

On Tuesday, Oct. 31, there will be plenty of trunk-or-treats, including:

● Haven Health in Safford, 3-5 p.m.

● Lighthouse Medical in Safford, 3-6 p.m.

● First United Methodist Church in Safford, 5-7 p.m.

● FFF Clubhouse at Green’s Furniture in Safford, starting at 6 p.m.

● Home Depot in Thatcher, 6-8 p.m.

● Josiah House Recovery at Safford City Hall, 6:30-8 p.m.
