The threat of rain did not prevent a modest crowd from gathering for the dedication of the new Pima High School campus. Principal, Cody Barlow, welcomed the crowd and thanked the community for investing in the school and coming to the dedication. He said, “As principal my goal is simple. I want this campus to be safe, I want it to be welcoming and I want it to be a place where our community can grow and flourish.”
Student Body President Ryan Skiba spoke next. He said that the high school experience is not just about the building, but about the people. Following his remarks that Pima High School Choir sang the national anthem. They were followed by the band performing.
Pima School Superintendent, Sean Rickert, spoke next. He said that by 2018 the district realized they had too many students and needed a new facility. He spoke of the plans and the construction and the people who were involved with the process.
The event culminated with the ribbon cutting while the band played the school’s fight song.
