Patterson, Branter, Pino-Reyes finalists for open Safford Council seat

SAFFORD — Eleven applicants for appointment to the Safford City Council were ranked by the six members of council and the results announced during Monday’s regular meeting.

“In first place we have Lee Patterson with a scoring total of 11, in second place we have Dusti Brantner with a score total of 12, and in third place we have Corina Pino-Reyes with a score total of 13,” said City Clerk Bea Driver.

Patterson, Brantner and Pino-Reyes will be interviewed by the council in closed executive session on March 25. After the interviews, the council will return to open public meeting and vote on who should fill the vacant council seat through the end of the year.

In addition to Patterson, Brantner and Pino-Reyes, applications for appointment were submitted by:

● Robert Haynes

● Kathryn Sticklin

● Carol Telles

The seat became vacant following the death of Mayor Jason Kouts on Jan. 24.
