SAFFORD — The public that wants to have a say in how the City of Safford moved forward during the next decade, but doesn’t have time to attend a public meeting, can still be heard.

The city has rolled out an online survey to solicit input from people who live in Safford, as well as those who work in the city but live outside the city limits.

“We’re really trying to get people familiar with the way this works, and show how they do have a voice,” said Safford Community Development and Planning Director Jaime Embick.

Embick can also be reached at 928-432-4299, for those who wish to meet one-on-one or to schedule her to speak with a group.

The general plan impacts infrastructure plans, zoning, recreation upgrades and additions, and where to place economic development efforts over the next 10 years.

The first draft of the plan will go to the City Council on Feb. 23, with a 60-day agency review commencing Feb. 27. A second draft will be presented to the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission on May 18 and to the City Council in June.

If there are no more revisions, the voters will be asked to approve the plan during the Nov. 3 general election.
