SAFFORD — On Thursday Little League International announced that they have canceled the 2020 Little League World Series and all Regional qualifying tournaments for the first time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
They didn’t cancel district or state tournaments though. That means there is still a chance that Gila Valley baseball players will get a chance to play this summer.
“We are in a holding pattern right now,” said Frankie Castillo. Castillo is the District Administrator for Arizona District 11, which includes Graham and Greenlee County leagues.
“As of today Mt. Graham Little League hasn’t been canceled,” added Castillo. “We will wait to see if the stay at home is lifted on May 15th and re-evaluate then.”
MGLL was originally scheduled to start on March 28th.
Gila Valley Softball has made the difficult decision to cancel their 2020 season. If you had paid for the season already you will be able to get a refund or roll it over and use it for next season.
