More than $65K granted by United Way in February

SAFFORD — The United Way of Graham and Greenlee Counties released its list of grant recipients for February, and educational projects received the lion’s share of funding.

A total of $65,898.22 was granted in February, with education receiving a total of $31,081.45.

Other sectors funded include health, economic stability and event sponsorships.

Education

  • $5,000 — Bonita Elementary School for K-8 programming supplies
  • $4,998 — Thatcher Middle School for the Eagle Challenge Crushed
  • $4,991.83 — Fairbanks Middle School for the Academic Achievement Recognition Initiative
  • $4,989.47 — Safford High School for the Bulldog Boulevard learning environment
  • $4,922.15 — Ruth Powell Elementary School for a Library update
  • $4,180 — Pima Elementary School for third grade reading materials
  • $2,000 — Duncan Public Library for the Adult Reading/Cooking Club

Health

  • $5,000 — Thatcher High School for the Eagle Challenge Initiative
  • $4,889 — Pima Fire Department for TIC cameras
  • $3,547.78 — Gila Valley Samaritan Home for laundry equipment
  • $2,379.99 — Our Neighbors Farm & Pantry for garden equipment

Economic Stability

  • $5,000 — Safford High School for an Athletic Department ticket booth

Event Sponsorships

  • $5,000 — Town of Duncan for the Christmas Light Parade fireworks
  • $5,000 — Town of Duncan for the Fourth of July Parade
  • $4,000 — Safford Fire Department for the fourth annual First Responders Golf Tournament

The United Way of Graham and Greenlee Counties makes grants to nonprofit, educational and governmental organizations thanks to donations from Freeport-McMoRan Foundation and Freeport employees; employees of the City of Safford, Town of Thatcher and Graham County; and individual donors.
