SAFFORD — On Jan. 23, the Graham County Sheriff’s Office received a call that Liberty Salazar was missing. Liberty’s bicycle was found at the end of the roadway near her residence at Highway 191. Based on evidence that evening it appeared Liberty had not walked from the area.

The Sheriff’s Office began efforts to locate Liberty, a 21-year-old female, who was described to us as having some special needs and medical concerns. The Sheriff’s Office entered Liberty Salazar into the ACIC/NCIC system as missing. Friends and family also began a campaign to locate Liberty.

In the course of the investigation, the Graham County Sheriff’s Office learned Liberty had been in contact with a male in the State of Texas prior to Jan. 23. The Sheriff’s Office developed information and, with the assistance of the Harris County, Texas, Sheriff’s Office, found Liberty on March 7.

Liberty’s family was notified, and they are traveling to Texas to unite with Liberty. Follow-up interviews will be done on Liberty’s return.
