On March 29, 2022, Graham County Sheriff’s Office discovered information which led to the identity of Timothy M. Schultheis, age 23, of South Carolina. With the aid of the FBI in Arizona, New Mexico, and South Carolina, Timothy M. Schultheis was located in Hilton Head Island, SC. The Graham County Attorney’s Office, based on the facts known at the time, issued an arrest warrant for Kidnapping and Custodial Interference which was entered in the NCIC system on the evening of March 29, 2022. On March 30, 2022, the FBI and local law enforcement in SC arrested Timothy Schultheis and Betty Taylor was found to be with him and is now safe. Betty Taylor’s parents were notified, and arrangements are being made to unite Betty Taylor with her family.
Timothy M. Schultheis was booked into a facility in Beaufort County, SC and is currently awaiting extradition to Arizona.
Investigative efforts will continue, but the Sheriff’s Office wants to thank the FBI, Department of Public Safety Investigations Unit, and many other agencies throughout Arizona and other States that assisted with following tips that were received and media outlets which assisted in this incident
