SAFFORD — Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center is calling the recent surge of cases of COVID-19 a “healthcare crisis.”
In a prepared release issued Monday, hospital officials said they “anticipate record daily cases over the next several weeks. This is due to the characteristics of the new Omicron variant; data shows us it is much more contagious than previous variants.”
Hospital officials also said that health-care workers at MGRMC are “stretched thin” after two years of dealing with the pandemic.
To try and reduce the chances of the hospital reaching capacity, MGRMC officials are asking the public to get vaccinated, get a booster if already vaccinated, and get a flu shot.
Hospital officials also recommend speaking with a primary care physician before visiting the hospital when sick, to determine if symptoms warrant hospital admission.
