SAFFORD — The Mount Graham Regional Medical Center Foundation is holding a black-tie gala Saturday, Sept. 21, to raise funds for a new fetal monitoring system that ensures the highest level of care for Gila Valley mothers and their babies.

The Transatlantic Cruise Charity Gala will be held at Manor 415 and feature dinner catered by Gineveve’s, with steak and chicken from Carter’s Custom Cuts prepared by Dug’s Blow’n Smoke BBQ.

The Foundation is especially excited to host The Hamptons, a world-class band that can play any genre of music. The Hamptons have been voted Best Live Band in Arizona 11 different times since the band’s inception in 2005.

The MGRMC Foundation will be raising money for new fetal monitoring equipment for expectant mothers in the OB Department. The new fetal monitors — the Avalon FM50 — will allow more comfort and mobility for laboring mothers, as the monitors will not be tethered to wires, and will be able to simultaneously measure the heart rates of both the baby and mother and the contractions of the woman’s uterus during labor.

It will replace outdated machines, some of which are from the 1990s.

The Foundation will be raising money through ticket and table sales, a silent and live auction, and a raffle for a gift certificate to Brando’s Fun N’ Sun Travel & Cruise to be redeemed for a cruise of the winner’s choice.

Any business or individual that would like to contribute a silent auction item, or attend the event by sponsoring a table, can do so by contacting Fran Carroll at mcarroll@mtgraham.org.
