SAFFORD — As a reminder of those loved and lost, Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center Foundation is lighting up the night.

The foundation is taking donations for luminaria to be placed throughout the hospital campus.

“Sometimes hospitals can be a place where tragedy happens; it’s not necessarily a place you want to visit. But we’re hoping the lanterns can be a message of hope, that it can be a place when you come to visit you can have a solemn reverence and something to look forward to,” said Fran Carroll with the hospital’s marketing team.

Each lantern represents an individual, whose name is posted on a sign near the front entrance of the hospital.

Donation for a lantern is $100 and all proceeds go to the nonprofit MGRMC Foundation, which raises funds for projects that help every department in the hospital, such as Radiology, Oncology and the Emergency Room.

The luminaria will remain in place through Dec. 31. To learn more go to Foundation – Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center (mtgraham.org).
