Marijilda fire fully contained

GRAHAM COUNTY — Coronado National Forest officials have confirmed that the Marijilda fire in the Mount Graham Wilderness Study Area has been fully contained.

The fire had grown to 16.7 acres before officials said forward progress had been stopped.

The fire was located southwest of Rincon Spring Trail 331 and northwest of the Marijilda Picnic Grounds, and was discovered Wednesday, Aug. 22, at 1:13 p.m.

The fire was started by a lightning strike.
