María del Carmen Romo Carabeo

María del Carmen Romo Carabeo joined our father, Juan Carabeo in heaven on Saturday, July 1st surrounded by her family. Carmen was born on July 27, 1938 to Francisco and Arcelia Romo in Naco, Sonora, Mexico. She was raised in Naco and was an elementary school teacher until our Dad whisked her away to Bisbee, AZ in November, 1956.She is preceded in death by our Dad, her daughter, Patricia; sisters, Lidia Denogean, and Gelo Corrales; brothers, Kiko Romo,  Prosperó Romo and Sijifredo Romo.

Carmen retired from Phelps Dodge Mercantile as a sales associate. After her retirement she took care of our Dad and our sister, Caro. For a couple years she worked for the Clifton Police Department where she loved everyone she worked with. Nana Carmen, as everyone knows her, loved making her famous tamales, watching daily Mass, telenovelas and Family Feud. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, the Spanish Choir, the Red Hats & a Cursillista. During voting season, anyone that went to vote, knew that they were going to be greeted by Carmen’s cheerful accent and huge smile. The volunteers couldn’t wait till Mom got there so they could eat her delicious pozole. She loved telling jokes and sometimes they weren’t too clean. Her proudest joy in her life is the creation of three generations of children. Children: Maria (Taco) Brinton, Johnny (Dawn) Carabeo, Annie (David) Quintino, Cathy (Rob) Maschue, Carol Ulery & Brenda Street. Grandchildren: Angelica (John) Carden, Gabriel (Sarah) Brinton, Chuy (Nicole) Quintino, John Quintino, Sean Maschue, Christopher (Katherine) Maschue, Monica (Ricky) Cannata, Daniel Maschue, Kelsey (Pugs) Pugmire, Juanito Carabeo, Kylee Carabeo, Becca Ulery, Charleigh Street, Brooklyn Street; Great Grandchildren: Anna, Jaime, Kailey & Khloe Quintino, Mallory, Brielle, Jayce & Eli Carden, Elias, Andres & Sarai Quintino, Corbin Ulery & Azlina Dominguez, Ever Carabeo, Ryan, Desmond, Maddox & Colum Maschue, Liam Maschue-Hinojosa, Koa & Sage Brinton. Her dog, Lulu. She is also survived by her sisters, Juanita Romo Bravo,  Licha Romo Villegas & Coty Romo Mora and sisters-in-law, Angie Casillas and Tota Carabeo.

Her Celebration of Life is on Saturday, July 15th at 9:00 am at Holy Cross Church in Morenci starting with the Rosary, followed by Mass and interment at Sacred Heart Cemetary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Cross Church, Morenci, AZ. Our beautiful Mom (Muñeca) reached the pearly gates perfectly dressed in her pearls & lipisticky. We miss her so much already. Nana Carmen was one of a kind who loved everyone, laughed out loud, loved to dance, loved fried shrimp & fries, and loved our Lord and her faith.
