Safford police were notified of a possibly deceased person on Tuesday (New Years Eve) at approximately 6:00 pm. The body was reportedly found near the intersection of 14th Avenue and Highway 70. Officers and emergency medical personnel responded to the area. Medical personnel confirmed that the person was deceased.
Officers were able to determine that the deceased person was Harrison Vandever. Vandever had been reported missing on Christmas Day. The Safford Police Department had issued an attempt to locate for Vandever at that time.
The body was transported to a local funeral home and a medical examination was conducted. Laboratory results and the medical examiner’s report are pending, but authorities currently do not suspect foul play and believe the cause of death to be natural.
