Man arrested for wandering back to Walmart 15 minutes after being trespassed

Safford police were dispatched to Walmart last Tuesday at approximately noon in reference to a man who was acting disorderly in the store. When officers arrived, they found the man sitting outside on the sidewalk just north of the grocery doors. He appeared to be under the influence of some type of drug. The man was reportedly acting defiant toward the officers and would not answer questions. An assistant manager told police that the man had been inside the store dancing, singing and bothering customers. The man had apparently been hanging around the store for two or three days. The manager requested that the man be trespassed from the premises.

The officers told the man that he was being trespassed from the store and explained that he could not go inside the store or be in the parking lot. As the man was getting up to leave, a large knife was found under his leg. He started chuckling about the officers finding the knife. The knife was taken for safekeeping.

Approximately 15 minutes later officers were called to the intersection of 20th Avenue and Highway 70, where the man was reportedly wandering into traffic at the intersection. When officers arrived on the scene they found the man in the Walmart parking lot, walking toward the store. The man was taken into custody for trespassing.
