SAFFORD — More than 60 local people spent their Saturday morning displaying their displeasure with the Trump administration.
The No Kings protest on the corner of 20th Avenue and U.S. Highway 70 was one of thousands conducted across the nation on Saturday.
“Everybody’s very enthusiastic and we’re getting a lot of positive response from the traffic driving by,” said organizer Sandra Lewis. “We’re, of course, peaceful and very enthusiastic.”
More than 8 million people participated in No Kings protests across all 50 states on Saturday. The peaceful demonstrations are believed to be the largest protest in U.S. history.
Participating in the protests were the Indivisible Project, a grassroots organization across all 50 states that seeks “to stop the rise of authoritarianism in the United States and to build a real democracy that works for all of us,” according to the group’s website.
The Graham County Democratic Committee sponsored and registered the event with the No Kings Protest movement.
Saturday’s protest was the 10th local protest of the Trump administration since he returned to office in January 2025, the third in 2026 and the first since Trump initiated hostilities with Iran.
