Laurence Kimball Romney, Jr.

Laurence Kimball Romney, Jr., passed away on September 5, 2023, after a brief illness. He was 78.

Kimball was born on November 13, 1944, in Safford, Arizona, the son of Laurence Kimball Romney and Kathryn McCray Crum Romney. Kimball spent his childhood in Duncan, Arizona. The family lived for a short time in Flagstaff, Arizona before moving to El Paso, Texas.

After graduating from El Paso High School, Kimball served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the West Mexico Mission. Kimball attended Eastern Arizona College before enrolling in Northern Arizona University where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration.

After college, Kimball went to work in the commercial produce and grocery industry eventually working his way up and managing the largest institutional foods operation in Southern Arizona. He was an innovator in the industry. He worked for a number of companies, including starting and being the president of a US-based business that partnered with one of Chile’s largest agricultural exporters.

He is survived by: his wife, Karen Romney; three children, Kathryn Shumway & husband Duane Shumway, Ed Romney & wife Belinda Romney, and Taylor Romney & wife Morgan Romney. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren and ten siblings.

Funeral Services were conducted Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Grove Building, located at 3770 S. Cooper Road, Chandler, AZ. Graveside services for Kimball were conducted on Monday, September 18, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., in the Duncan Cemetery.
