SAFFORD — There’s just one more day for teens to sign up to learn more about law enforcement.
Safford Police Department, Thatcher Police Department and Graham County Sheriff’s Office are teaming for a Teen Police Academy this summer.
Teens will have the chance to learn about crime scene investigations, traffic enforcement, patrol, and drugs and narcotic investigations.
“This is a great opportunity for any teens interested in law enforcement, leadership and making a difference in our community,” Police officials wrote in a social media post.
The academy is for teens 14 to 18, who are enrolled in a Gila Valley high school and have at least a “C” or better grade-point average. The teens must also not have a history of criminal activity or be on probation.
The academy will run June 2-6, from 4-8 p.m. each day, at the Safford Police Station.
Space is limited and registration forms can be obtained from each school district’s school resource officer or at the Safford Police Department.
