KATO 1230AM Releases 2025 High School Football Broadcast Schedule

Safford, AZ – Since 1961, KATO 1230 AM has been the voice of high school football in the Gila Valley. In 2025, that proud tradition continues as KATO enters its 64th year of gridiron coverage—and veteran broadcaster Lee Patterson returns for season number 26 behind the mic.

Every game will air live on KATO 1230AM and stream online at gilavalleycentral.net, with all broadcasts kicking off at 7:00 p.m.

This year’s schedule delivers a mix of fresh matchups, fierce rivalries, and a few can’t-miss milestones, including a long-awaited stadium debut and the start of a new coaching chapter.

Here’s what’s on tap for the 2025 regular season:

  • August 22 – Safford at Morenci
    The Ishmael MacNeil era begins for Safford as the Bulldogs travel to take on the Wildcats.
  • August 29 – Thatcher at Apache Junction
    A rare showdown—these two haven’t met since 1975.
  • September 5 – Round Valley at Pima
    It’s the first ever game at Pima’s brand new stadium. Expect a fired-up crowd and a physical battle.
  • September 12 – Thatcher at Florence
    A tough road test for the Eagles against a rising Florence squad.
  • September 19 – St. Johns at Pima
    A small-school classic with big playoff implications.
  • September 26 – Pusch Ridge at Thatcher
    The Lions make the trip north in what could be a late-season statement game.
  • October 3 – Safford at Thatcher
    The rivalry returns.
  • October 10 – Morenci at Pima
    Two hard-nosed programs collide with regional bragging rights on the line.
  • October 17 – Pusch Ridge at Safford
