Safford, AZ – Since 1961, KATO 1230 AM has been the voice of high school football in the Gila Valley. In 2025, that proud tradition continues as KATO enters its 64th year of gridiron coverage—and veteran broadcaster Lee Patterson returns for season number 26 behind the mic.
Every game will air live on KATO 1230AM and stream online at gilavalleycentral.net, with all broadcasts kicking off at 7:00 p.m.
This year’s schedule delivers a mix of fresh matchups, fierce rivalries, and a few can’t-miss milestones, including a long-awaited stadium debut and the start of a new coaching chapter.

- August 22 – Safford at Morenci
The Ishmael MacNeil era begins for Safford as the Bulldogs travel to take on the Wildcats. - August 29 – Thatcher at Apache Junction
