Safford native, Justin Gaethje, will be back in the UFC Octagon on Saturday as the co-main event on the UFC 286 card, live from London.
Gaethje (23-4, 6-4 UFC) will take on Rafael Fiziev (12-1, 6-1 UFC) in his first fight since May 7th, 2022, a 1st round submission loss to Charles Oliveria. Fiziev is on a 6-fight winning streak, including his last win over Rafael Dos Anjos on July 9th, 2022.
Both fighters have been prolific strikers in the UFC. Eight of Fiziev’s 12 wins have come by KO and 6 of those have been in the first round. 19 of Gaethje’s 24 wins have come via KO and 9 of those are in the first round.
Since joining the UFC in 2017, Gaethje has won Fight of the Year honors three separate times. He has received 10 bonuses in 9 UFC bouts. Fiziev has earned Performance or Fight of the Night bonuses in his previous five fights.
