Increased testing results in shortage of tests

SAFFORD —Due to the increased amount of testing nationwide, Graham County Health Department is reporting a temporary shortage in tests as well as delays in results.

In a release issued Thursday, the Health Department said the number of confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 in Graham County remains at 20, but there are eight tests pending results.

“Normally, those results are available in three to five days. However, with the dramatic increase in testing across the U.S., test results are taking a bit longer than usual,” department officials said.

They also said that the department is currently experiencing a shortage of testing supplies, so only the sickest people with “suspicious symptoms” are being tested.

Those tested who are awaiting results are placed in self-quarantine and the Health Department checks on them daily until the results come in.
