FORT THOMAS — The Gila Watershed partnership is introducing a new volunteer opportunity to the Gila Valley.
The first Restoration Service Days will take place Nov. 10-11.
Volunteers will meet at the GWP office at 6:30 a.m. for a carpool ride out to two Freeport-McMoRan restoration sites along the Gila River near Fort Thomas.
“This, I feel like, is going to remind people of sort of the early Conservation Crew days. Like the FDR-era Conservation Crews,” said Dr. Sarah Sayles, GWP executive director. “We’re going to take people out, and throw out seeds, (and) plant plants in a couple of spots.”
Sayles said shovels, picks and other supplies will be made available for use by volunteers. Orientation will take place onsite at 7:30 a.m., and planting and seeding will take place between 8-11 a.m.
