Helen Louise Dickerson-Powers

Helen Louise Dickerson-Powers, entered into her eternal rest May 16, 2023. She lived an incredible 80 years. Helen was born November 1, 1942, in Edna, Kansas, to Pearl May McIntyre and Benjamin Harrison Dickerson.

As a child, Helen moved with her family from Oklahoma to Morenci, AZ. There she attended elementary school and eventually graduated from Morenci High. Soon after graduating she met and married Robert Lloyd McCurdy. In 1962, Helen and Bob began their family. They had 3 beautiful children whom she loved very much. In 1972 Helen moved her children to Ada, Oklahoma to be closer to her family. While in Oklahoma, Helen attended school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. After earning her LPN, she began working in a nursing home. While working and being a single mother Helen then met her love, Rip Powers. They were wed in Roff, Oklahoma among family and friends. Eventually, she and Rip would move to Goodyear, AZ and she would continue her nursing career working in a nursing home. Helen would eventually retire in 2010.

It is fitting that Helen would make her 40+ year career as a nurse. She enjoyed caring for those who were sick and of need of care, it was just what she was called to do. Helen was a woman filled with genuine love and compassion for others. It was something that made her a light and beacon to those around her. Her arms were always open and ready to welcome others in with a warm hug. Her kids and grandchildren ALWAYS felt her love, she always had so much to give. Helen lived as a woman of faith. She had a strong relationship with Jesus Christ and a testimony of the gospel. Her testimony and faith held her through many difficult times in her life; even to her last day on earth. She was a true example of strength, courage and enduring faith.
