Hattie Rene Garza

Hattie Rene Garza, age 28, of Fredericksburg, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, with her parents by her side, at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center due to complications of end stage renal disease.

Hattie was born March 2, 1994, at San Diego Naval Medical Center, San Diego California, to Ruben J. & Barbara J Garza. She was diagnosed shortly after birth as the 23rd documented case worldwide with Chromosome 10-p13, a partial deletion of the chromosome. The prognosis of life was that of only seven years. In 2020, Johns Hopkins Medical Center updated the diagnosis as Chromosome 10p15.3p14, with a similar known case of a 17 year life span. Hattie’s will and grace is a testament to living to age 28. Hattie enjoyed fishing outings, freeway driving, restaurants, YouTube videos on her iPads, spending time with family, friends and shopping. She enjoyed her flying trips to Arizona to visit family and was especially fond of traveling to Clifton. Hattie was such a gentle and loving girl with an amazing sense of humor. Her presence left a lasting effect on people who met her. Her will to live in the presence of her complex health conditions is an example for all. Even through her most extreme moments of suffering, she never complained and accepted what she faced each day as part of her life and cherished the outpouring of Love for her and the simple things that made her happy. She was full of grace and love up to her final moments.

Hattie is preceded in death by: her grandparents, Ruben W. and Guadalupe Garza, Grandpa David Martinez, Aunt Emma Barriga and Uncle Johnny R Garza. She leaves her parents, Ben & Barbie, formerly of Clifton, along with her maternal Great Grandma Frances Morales White, maternal grandma Teresa Siqueiros, Aunts Tammy M. Lee (Uncle DeMarcus), Aunt Virginia Saiz (Uncle Ramon), Aunt Gloria Pizano (Uncle Benny), Aunt RoseAnne Alvarez (Uncle Pat), Aunt Juanita Hill and Uncle Robert Garza, Nina Carolyn Pizano and Nino Patrick Alvarez as well as a large extended family. Hattie will be flown from Fredericksburg, Virgina to be laid to rest in Clifton.

The family wishes to express their love and gratitude to the numerous prayer groups, family and friends praying for Hattie all these years. She was lifted in prayer and it was a testament to the love Hattie radiated.
