Harrington fire starts on San Carlos Apache Reservation

SAN CARLOS — San Carlos Apache Forest Resources Program reported the start of a new wildfire on the northeastern portion of the reservation.

The Harrington fire started Friday, Aug. 22, from a lightning strike.

The fire is located in rugged, steep terrain, north of Harrington Tank, and firefighters are working to secure the south and west flanks.

As of Monday, the fire had grown to 125 acres and was at 0-percent containment.
