Greenlee projected to have state’s best job growth

PHOENIX — On a percentage basis, Greenlee County is projected to have the greatest amount of job growth in the state over the coming year.

That’s according to the 2024-26 Projected Employment Report issued Thursday by the Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity.

Greenlee is projected to add 292 new jobs by second quarter of 2026, an increase of 2.2 percent in employment opportunities over the second quarter of 2024.

Graham County is projected to add 262 new jobs by the second quarter of 2026. The new jobs would represent a 1.1 percent increase over the second quarter of 2024, tied for third-largest job growth with Maricopa County and just behind Pinal County at 1.2 percent

Meanwhile Cochise County is projected to lose 100 jobs, a decline of 0.1 percent. Cochise and Apache are the only counties projected to suffer job losses.

Health care and social services are the job sectors projected to see the most growth by 2026, followed by construction and educational services.

Projected to see job losses are information, and natural resources and mining.
