THATCHER — As workers receive their W-2 forms and prepare to file their 2020 taxes, the Graham/Greenlee Tax Credit Coalition is encouraging residents to donate to any of the nine nonprofit organizations that form the coalition.

“As a single filer, you can donate $400. If you’re filing jointly, you can donate up to $800,” said Ted Prina, with Arizona Community Foundation of the Gila Valley, one of the partners sponsoring the coalition with United Way of Graham and Greenlee Counties and Tyson Richins of Edward Jones.

Donors will receive a dollar-for-dollar credit toward any state taxes owed. And Prina explained that donations can also be split in any amount among the nine qualifying charitable organizations — Boys & Girls Club of the Gila Valley, Canyonlands Healthcare, Graham County Rehabilitation Center (GCRC), Our Neighbor’s Farm and Pantry, Mt. Graham Safe House, CHAP Ministries, Graham County Substance Abuse Coalition, Southeastern Arizona Community Unique Services (SEACUS) and Tooth B.U.D.D.S.

Plus the coalition is reminding residents that a donation to these organizations does not mean other important causes can’t also be supported.

“I know a lot of people are familiar with giving money to the schools each year, which they certainly need and they certainly appreciate very, very much. The nonprofit donation is something that is completely separate from the school donation, so you can still do both. You don’t have to choose between giving money to the schools and giving money to the nonprofits,” Richins said.

More information about the Graham/Greenlee Tax Credit Coalition can be found at www.grahamgreenleetcc.org. Online donations to the nine qualifying nonprofit organizations  may also be made at that website.
